Occasional Brass & Strings

Occasional Brass & Strings provided multiple options for combinations and numbers of instruments. We had a relatively small celebration with about 40 guests, and selected a trio of brass and strings for our cocktail hour followed by the ceremony and reception. Our guests told us the music was perfect, and we agree. The trio provided a mix of classical, jazz and contemporary music that reflected exactly what we had envisioned and requested. Bryan was a pleasure to work with and provided an extensive playlist from which we selected our favorites for the celebration. There were also audio and video clips available online so we could 'sample' the group's sound. Bryan was quick to respond to emails and phone calls, worked with us to add a humorous note to our ceremony, and understood exactly what we wanted without needing a lot of explanation of what that was. The trio was gracious and professional, and best of all, handled the music without our having to give it a second thought. My husband and I would definitely recommend Occasional Brass and Strings. As I wrote earlier, our guests told us the music was perfect, and we agree.

We had a strings & trumpet quartet for our wedding ceremony. Before the wedding, I spoke with Bryan a number of times and he always answered my questions or returned my calls immediately. He was really great to work with and offered helpful guidance. They have an extensive selection of songs to choose from as well. At the ceremony, the music was BEAUTIFUL. The church is very large (the quartet set up by the altar) and I could still hear the music clearly at the entrance of the church. Many of my guests came up to me later to tell me how wonderful the music was. We had so many compliments on it & I can not say enough good things about Occassional Brass & Strings. They are the best!

We hired a string trio for our ceremony and they were amazing. Bryan was so easy to work with and provided us with videos, music samples, and a complete song list for us to pick from. This was super helpful when were deciding who to hire as musicians. The quality of music at our wedding was even better than the samples that were sent to us. The trio set a warm and elegant mood for our ceremony. Even our guests commented how talented they were. They even played a mix of classical and popular songs at our request which made for a great mix before and after the ceremony. The trio was amazing and was a great value as well! Our ceremony just wouldn't have been the same without them. :)

Occasional Brass and Strings played during the ceremony and cocktail hour of our wedding. They were responsive and extremely easy to plan with. They were also very accommodating of our budget and wishes for the day. My husband and I wanted classical music for the ceremony and jazz for the cocktail hour. I spent days upon days searching for a group that would be able to play both types of music well and for a reasonable price. This vendor definitely fits that bill. Both genres of music were very well played and guests couldn't stop raving about how great it was to have live music during the cocktail hour. I would recommend this group if you are looking for great and affordable live music for your big day!

Occasional Brass performed at a high level musically and functionally. The quintet was open to suggestions and worked with us to put together an inspiring package of prelude and ceremony pieces. Asked to transcribe a keyboard accompaniment of a hymn and play it along with the ceremony's guests, they not only transcribed it beautifully and loyally, they added an inspired obbligatto to the concluding verse. All attendees were very pleased with the quintet's contribution to our daughter's wedding.

Occasional Brass & Strings did a wonderful job performing at my wedding ceremony. We opted for a String Trio and was delighted with the large playlist of ceremony music to choose from. OBS has an online music database which made it easy to listen to how the songs would sound as performed by a String Trio. OBS was open learn a new song if requested by the bride and groom. OBS was very professional and easy to work with. The musicians showed up on time, dressed nicely and played well. I highly recommend OBS if you want to hear beautiful, live music on your wedding day!

We booked a trio of 2 strings and a flute and their performance during the ceremony was perfect. The performers showed up on time and played beautifully. Dealing with Bryan to set everything up was a breeze as well. He was very professional and responsive. I highly recommend this company to anybody looking for ceremony musicians.

We used a string quartet from Occasional Brass & Strings for our ceremony and cocktail hour. They did a fantastic job! We worked with Brian in setting everything up and it was very easy and he was very responsive to e-mails. It was also great because they could play both classical and contemporary selections which really worked out well for us. Brian helped us customize our playlist and gave us some great ideas. The musicians were professional, on time and did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend this company!

Byran from Occassional Brass is great to work with. If you don't know exactly what you have in mind he is extremly helpful in suggesting options. They also have a great selection of more modern choices which our guests really loved. They customized our ceremony music so that it fit exactly the mood and style that we wanted and Bryan was great to work with. He is extremely responsive and prompt. We had the Brass Trio and couldn't have been more happy with our selection. It really does make a difference to have live music on this important day.

We had a brass quintet play at our wedding, and they sounded great. They have an extensive selection of songs and they were willing to arrange a song for our prelude.

Occasional Brass and Strings was absolutely unbelievable. We hired a 3 piece group including a trumpet, a violin, and a cello to play during our ceremony and our cocktail hour. They were amazing! They played a beautiful rendition of "What a Wonderful World" during our ceremony and kept our guests entertained with some classic rock and jazz music while we took our formal photos. About a month before the wedding I asked whether it would be possible for them to play either "I'm a Believer" or "Accidentally in Love" for our recessional with the understanding that it was short notice and neither song was in the repertoire at the time. Somehow the group had compositions for both songs in time for the wedding -- they were perfect. I can't say enough good things about the trio who performed at my wedding. They were completely professional and a true pleasure to work with. The performance was unbelievable and helped to make our wedding a perfect day. My advice is to definitely hire them - they were outstanding!

Bryan, the trumpet player and group founder, was a pleasure to work with throughout the planning process. He had excellent communication, and he was quick to offer feedback and suggestions. Occasional Brass and Strings has an extensive collection of music, spanning all different genres. On the day of the wedding, the trio did an excellent job. The ceremony music was classic and beautiful, and the cocktail hour music was fun and upbeat. The live music really added something special to the wedding day.

They are very organized, responsive and versatile. I like that they have lots of traditional music but then have some more fun music so you can use them for more than just the ceremony.

The Occasional Brass Quintet was extremely professional, and provided a unique performance for our guests for our ceremony and cocktail hour. It was so amazing to walk down the aisle to such majestic sounds! The cocktail hour was fun and lively. Bryan was awesome to deal with and even can arrange tunes for couples that brass quintet's normally do not have in their repertoire! Great group in every sense!

Can not say enough great things about Bryan and his staff! Everyone loved the brass trio at our wedding and teh trumpet fanfare for the bridal march was AMAZING!!!

These guys (and gal) were amazing. We hired the brass quintet and they were fabulous. Everyone loved them, the songs were fantastic and they played both hymns for the ceremony and jazz for the reception with aplomb and flair.

I used OB&S for a string trio, solo violinist and jazz trio. Bryan was extremely kind and easy to work with. He made good suggestions when I needed them and never pressured us. He was prompt, professional, and never gave me any kind of stress. I knew his musicians were good (they have many clips to listen to, more so than many other vendors I communcated with) and that he'd be sure they were their on time and doing what they were supposed to do. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone!

We loved Bryan and his trio. They set up and even provided a mike for the ceremony. They also played our cocktail hour... I definitely reccommend this company.

Bryan and his group were really fantastic! I was nervous when my sister asked me to sing at her wedding ceremony and be in charge of organizing the rest of the ceremony music , but everything went so smoothly. Even though circumstances dictated that we did not really have time to go over it ahead of time, their accompaniment for my singing was great, and they were all extremely professional. Thank you so much Bryan and company. You were a big part of making the day very special!

I was very impressed with how organized this group seemed by the website, but it was very hard to get in touch with Bryan and frustrating in the planning process. A week before the wedding, when I was working on the programs and asked him for the list we agreed on when we were talking through the ceremony at our face to face meeting, he confessed he lost it and I had to rush through decisions and go with his recommendations at the last minute. I felt nervous but ok about that since the wedding songs I wanted were pretty standard, but wish I had time to pick out better songs for the full ceremony. I understand mistakes happen and when I talked to Bryan about my concerns he was very professional and respectful. The musicians showed up on time, dressed elegantly and played well.
