Casual Gourmet truly helped make my wedding "perfect". It sounds crazy to say but I really felt that everything went exactly as I pictured and it was because of Casual Gourmet. First off the food was great!!! Everyone loved their dinner and that is not something you hear often at weddings. The entree options were great for a fall wedding and the herb salad was very well received! I really actually crave that chicken again! I only had a minute to try the cake the next day but that was great as well! The chef helped me come up with a fun borscht shooter as a passed hor d'eourve, to help bring out some of the russian culture at the wedding. Most importanty though, Casual Gourmet is a full service event company and I worked very closely with Sarah Biggs to pull everything off. She helped me from day one plan out a schedule of events, find the right vendors, and answer every question that I had. I had tons of questions and Sarah was always very friendly and responsive. I felt like I was the only bride she was working with that whole year, which I know isn't true because Casual does tons of events each week. The day of the wedding went so smoothly and I had absolutely NOTHING to worry about. Everything was set up and laid out and planned perfectly. It really was amazing. All of the guests had a blast. Sarah helped me turn my plain tent into a really gorgeous and cozy venue. Thanks so much!!!

Let me first start out by saying that on the day of my wedding, my cake was EXACTLY how I had pictured it. On top of that, it was delicious! Now let me back up a bit.... The only slight problem I had with this venue was that I contacted them 4 days prior to my wedding and they said they had no record of my order. HOWEVER, after explaining a couple more details and the staff talked amongst themselves, they quickly remembered my order. Not only that, but they designed the PERFECT cake. I believe this misunderstanding had something to do with the fact that I live in Montana and we got married in Cape Cod. Planning from afar was pretty difficult, but they truly made it easier by allowing me to send pictures via email to describe my vision. All in all, I would highly recommend this vendor for an ideal place to get your wedding cake.

Casual Gourmet did our cake as a part of our package from Ocean Edge. It was great-- very easy to work with, and they did everything exactly the way we wanted them to. The cake was delicious too!

Casual Gourmet provided my wedding cake as part of a package with Ocean Edge Resort. I wanted a cake that was beachy, elegant, and unique. I gave them a couple ideas and left the rest of the design up to them. The final product was perfect, and the actualy cake was even better than what was offered at the tasting. The only thing that was slightly disappointing was that fondant was not included in the standard package price with Ocean Edge, so I had to pay extra for the small amount of fondant used. It was worth it though because the cake was one-of-a-kind!

Best tasting cake around and very easy to work with; however, we went with a custom design to match everything else (decor, invites, etc.) and we were not overly thrilled with the final design.

Overall, we were pleased with The Casual Gourmet. The overall experience that they provided for us and our guests was great! For the purpose of this review, I will be a bit picky and also mention that the cost for their services was definitely a bit higher than some of the other quotes we received. For the most part, the food was excellent, and the cake was delicious and absolutely beautiful. They also did a wonderful job of putting together our creative add-ons on site (ie. centerpieces, favor table, table runners, etc.). Our scores slipped for them for a few reasons. We did hear that a number of plates had raw potatoes served on them. We also were disappointed that after asking for the cake to be served, then the extra pieces be put on a buffet, we didn’t see the cake being served. They were quick to respond by serving some…but I still heard many guests say they didn’t know cake was out, and they never got a piece. We're probably nick-picking here, but we didn’t get any special service as the bride and groom. I’ve seen many weddings where the bride and groom are brought appetizers while they take their formals and miss cocktail hour, but this wasn’t the case. Also, when we sat down for our toast…our toasting flutes were set out, but empty. I had to discreetly hand my class to my cousin to fill it with something from the bar. We didn’t get to eat our meals (no fault of theirs!), but when we asked to have our meals wrapped, they were surprised. At many of our family members’ weddings, not only did the bride and groom take “doggy bags” back to their room with dinner, but they also had the extra cake boxed and sent back. We didn’t see a slice, and assume there must’ve been some because so many guests mentioned they didn’t get any. Again, overall we were pleased, and would recommend them to a friend! We'd also tell our friend about these little things so that they could just be a bit proactive about it :)

The Casual Gourmet did a wonderful job on our cake. It was beautiful and simple like we wanted it to be and tasted delicious. The even customized one of the tiers to chocolate and peanut butter which was my husbands favorite.

Our experience with The Casual Gourmet was very positive for the most part. They handle not only the catering but also coordinate rentals (tables, chairs, linens, etc) which made everything much easier. Their food is excellent, and our coordinator was very good at helping us create a menu that worked with our budget and wedding vision. One of the issues we had was having our coordinator changed two days before the wedding due to "other engagements". So the one individual we worked with for 6+ months during the planning process wasn't there the day of the event. The replacement coordinator was very good, but going through all of our details with a new person on the rehearsal day wasn't the best use of our time. Overall though, we are happy with our decision to use The Casual Gourmet and would recommend this caterer to others.

Our cake was not only delicious, but it was beautiful, exactly as I pictured it. Casual Gourmet did a fantastic job. The tasting was so much fun and they accommodated a large group. They answered all my questions when I called a few times and I hardly had to worry about them at all after the initial tasting, the cake was exactly as I wanted it. We had lemon with rasberry filling for 2 tiers and black and white with buttercream for the others. They do not use fondant which is good because it is not tasty.

I'm not sure the final tally above gives enough credit to the Casual Gourmet for a delicious and BEAUTIFUL end product. To be fully transparent, we didn't have a choice with our cake vendor: our reception venue (the Coonamessett Inn, was fabulous) required we work with Casual Gourmet. (At this point, we were somewhat grateful to have the choice taken out of it!) The cake was delicious, and the design was exactly what we wanted. Somehow, they managed to take a cake that had turquoise edging, white chocolate seashells and starfish, brown-sugar-as-sand, and adirondack chairs and make it not look cheesy. We couldn't have been happier with the asthetics of the design. The taste was delicious according to my husband (I unfortuantely only got one bite!). I can say that even one day later it was yummy, though obviously the consistency was much better when fresh. I downgraded them a bit for quality of service/responsiveness, as I did feel the main cake person was difficult to catch "live". On the value side, again, we didn't do a ton of due diligence, but their prices seemed responsible to us. The cake was delivered on time, no mishaps, and it's hard to know whether they were "flexible" or not because nothing really went wrong. Overall, a good cake, perfect asthetics, not cheap but not overly expensive, generally positive experience.

I was thrilled with the Casual Gourmet's food and service -- both were exceptional, and I've dealt with a number of caterers in the past. They offered excellent suggestions during the selection process, provided delicious and plentiful food, and the staff the day of the wedding were all fabulous. Couldn't be more pleased.

I worked with Mary at Casual Gourmet on a rehearsal dinner for 100 guests and a wedding reception for 150 guests. Mary was helpful through the planning process, offering great advice and being responsive to all our requests. She guided us through the menu process and provided delicious food in a beautiful presentation. We received so many complements on the food from our guests! She and her staff are very professional and our events went smoothly thanks to their efforts and attention to detail. And because Mary was there to oversee everything, we were able to enjoy both events to the fullest. It was such a pleasure working with Mary and her team! I highly recommend them and I look forward to working with Casual Gourmet in the future!
